Relation to other modules
This module is related to the music theory modules.
Content
Students learn to play progressions in a variety of styles and voicing techniques, in different keys and with steady rhythm at a low tempo.
Students learn to play pieces in different ways, e.g., only harmony or harmony with melody.
They study classical repertoire or in related styles. Each student must study the full range of styles offered and work on side reading scores and improvisation in classical harmony.
Mode(s) of instruction
Individual lessons that, depending on whether the student is studying on-campus or online, take place in a classroom at ArtEZ or in a virtual classroom environment.
In case of a virtual class, the student and the lecturer are in different locations and communicate by seeing, talking and listening to each other equally. The teacher has access to a whiteboard, application sharing, desktop sharing and document sharing and can hand this privilege to the student. Apart from the video conference a high quality stereo audio stream is open at the same time via source connect. That way student and instructor can listen to music from any source and discuss it simultaneously.
