Aims
Learning about recent developments in contemporary composition and how to analyse contemporary scores.

Content
This module comprises knowledge of instruments, instrumentation and the contemporary music ensemble.
As a first step, we will analyse orchestral, large ensemble and chamber works written since 2010. The emphasis each year will be on the work of living composers from particular areas or genres, changing each year.

Examination and assessment

Summative assessment by the instructor at the end of the semester. Formative assessment each week during discussions, homework sharing, assignments.
Criteria
Students should have mastered the elements described under Contents.
Pass requirements
The student has completed this module if being awarded a minimum grade of 5.5 at the end of the semester.
Examination procedure
The end-of-semester assessment comprises evaluations of students' performance during the lessons and assignments.
Tests conducted online are valid only if it is done without interruption. The assessor will decide whether or not the test was valid.
