Aims
Understanding the fundamentals of digital sound sythesis software MaxMSP. The learning process includes fundamental elements for object oriented programming in MaxMSP, sound science, and sound synthesis.

Content
Max/MSP is a powerful digital tool for musicians, composers and sound artists alike to create tailor-made sound and sound-infrastructure from scratch.

Through play and exposure, this course will offer acclimatization with the program’s possibilities to produce and manipulate sound. We’ll familiarize ourselves with the basic infrastructure and functioning of the program and explore examples of its use.

An introduction to Max/MSP introduces the student to many fundamental aspects of music technology infrastructure and the science of sound, as well as some basic programming elements. This can be helpful in many other contexts.

Although the program allows you to generate digital sound within a Max/MSP 'patch,' you can also use the software in combination with external elements like voice, or other instruments, making is useful for any student to explore this topic.

Students are required to use their own laptop. Participants will receive a temporary license of Max/MSP during the duration of the course.
