Content
In this module, students will work in a small group on backing vocals in mostly pop and soul music, sometimes gospel, poprock or indie. The lessons are modeled after the professional practice of singing backing vocals in a band or in a larger production, where triads and pentatonics are sung with conviction and a ‘street’ attitude. Points of attention include sound, feel, presentation and ad libs. Both the teacher and the students can make suggestions for song material. The class can also contribute to other bands, auditions or final exams.
