Form / content / level

Prerequisites
Completion of year one of Jazz & Pop. This subject can only be followed on-campus.
Competencies
See Competencies Matrix.
Aims
Developing artistic personality, developing and planning a project, developing compositional and organizational skills.
Relation to other modules
Artistic research, main subject, music theory, composition, song-writing
Content
The aim of this class is to develope a concept that includes (a) non-musical element(s) and its reflection in an artistic sense. For example, you are interested in starting a project in which you compose music based natural phenomena or write lyrics based on inclusion, diversity or war, or want to start a band in which 'whale songs' is fundamental. So, you can think of every social, natural or scientific matter and how that influences your musical practice. During the year you are going to work on your own project and include your own concept in your musical practice. The result can be new songs, a new band, a new album, a concert program (etc) and its presentation.

Note: this course is interesting as a first encounter with Artistic Research. But, this course is about conceptualizing and executing – writing about and reflecting on the project is not included (unless you want to).
