You have access to a laptop that you can use for the recording activity in, and for your self-study for this class. Admitted to second year of Jazz & Pop. This subject can only be followed on-campus.
Competencies
Aims
Confidently & professionally recording oneself at home. With DAW, interface and microphone(s) of choice. Basic mixing skills to sound good in your own recordings, provide professional recordings, presentable demo mixes and delivering them to specific criteria.

Relating to all music technology modules. Special mention: relating to Artist-Writer, for you can work with/on your own original material.
Content
Learning to record from scratch through group assignments in class. Homework consists of recording & mixing a production of your own choosing (could be your own material). In class we'll discuss the results and tips tailored to your situation and needs. Students may bring their own gear into the lessons.

Laptop (no tablets) with recording software (DAW) of choice, audio interface, headphones, microphone.
Student activity
In and outside of the lessons, students will record sound, mix their recordings, and reflect on this process together.

Criteria
Students should have mastered the elements described under Contents, are able to provide a professional home-made recording and demo mix.
Pass requirements
The student has completed this module if being awarded a 'pass' at the end of the module.
