Prerequisites
To be able to select this minor, the student must have mastered an instrument or singing to a certain level. The norm is the preparatory course entrance level. You can choose no more than one Individual Minor per year. In some cases exceptions are made; for instance if drummers are needed in first year bands students could be allowed to choose an extra minor drums and play in such a band as compensation and to train the skills. The elective Timing Improvisation Phrasing counts as a minor.

Content
This course focuses on how to improve your timing and phrasing for improvisation and accompaniment on the instrument or vocal(s). The student will find new ways to study timing, phrasing and ‘storytelling’ in a solo or to accompany a soloist.
Depending on the student's musical needs, it’s possible to highlight some of the topics mentioned above during this course.
Stylistically anything is possible as long as it is timing- and feel-based material.
The course consists of individual lessons, so it applies to both beginning as well as advanced players or singers. Classes will start at the student's level, and the teacher and student will take it from there.

Assessment by the instructor at the end of each semester.
Criteria
Students should have some experience dealing with the elements described under Contents.
Pass requirements
The student has completed this module if being awarded a minimum grade of 5.5 at the end of the second semester.
Examination procedure
Students are assessed at the end of both semesters. Assessment at the end of the autumn semester is formative and expressed in terms of satisfactory/unsatisfactory. It indicates a student's progress in this module. No ECs are awarded and there is no resit. Modules can only be absolved, and ECs awarded, after the end of the spring semester. The end-of-semester assessments comprise evaluations of students' performance during the lessons and, if applicable, public performances.
